Textile waste – What? Where? How?
Textile waste, including damaged clothing, shoes, and other materials, must be taken to Municipal Waste Selective Collection Points (PSZOK) starting January 1, 2025. They can also be donated to charities or placed in used clothing containers if they are in good condition. Disposing of textiles in mixed waste is no longer permitted, with the exception of rags stained with grease or chemicals.
What to do with textile waste?
- PSZOK (PSZOK) (Municipal Waste Selective Collection Point): This is where damaged clothing, shoes, and other textiles should be dropped off. New regulations require separate collection of textiles, and PSZOK is designed for this purpose.
- Charities and clothing containers: If textiles are in good condition and suitable for reuse, they can be donated to organizations such as the Polish Red Cross, Caritas, or other clothing collection points.
- Mixed waste (black bin): Only heavily soiled textiles, such as those used to clean grease, fat, or chemicals, that cannot be cleaned can be placed in this bin.
Important information:
Textile waste should no longer be disposed of in mixed waste bins as of January 1, 2025.
Collect textiles at home and take them to the PSZOK (Personal Waste Collection Center) if a large amount accumulates.
Some municipalities also offer mobile selective waste collection points (mPSZOK).
